Celeste Silverthorn is a noble heiress—bloated in figure and blinded by the Silver Mist curse—whose life was shattered by betrayal. After her mother was murdered by her younger sister, Cassandra, her husband, Adrian, pushed her—then pregnant—into the Pool of Atonement in a bid to seize the family seal. Though she lost her unborn child, Celeste miraculously regained her sight; with the aid of her former lover, Silas, she staged her own death and returned under a new identity. She infiltrated the Council of Succession, manipulating the pair into confessing their crimes and exposing a seven-year conspiracy for power. Ultimately, she reclaimed her fiefdom, mines, and the family seal, while forging a new path for her life and love.
