Eva was human. Nate was the heir to the dragon clan. She gave him one of her kidneys to save his life, then walked away before he could wake up. She was pregnant. She raised their daughter Lily alone, never using magic again, hiding in the shadows of Velinia. Seven years later, Eva exhausted her power to save a dying elf prince and fell into a deep coma. Lily, only seven years old, kept her mother alive with her own tiny magic. Then Lily accidentally offended Vera, a winged noble, who demanded she kneel and prepared to strip her magic away. Nate arrived before the blow fell. He saw the child. He saw Eva. The truth came out: the woman who had saved his life had also given him a daughter. Seven years of hatred melted in a single moment. He had been searching for her all along. She had been hiding from him to protect him. Now he knelt beside her bed, held his daughter's hand, and promised he would never leave again.
