Castalian, Archmage of the Sacred Realm, lived under an assumed identity working as a rune‑array caretaker at Saint Peter’s Grand Academy, solely to prevent the Abyss Lord beneath the ground from breaking the seal. However, the newly‑arrived headmistress believed he consumed massive resources year after year yet accomplished nothing. She dismissed him under a pretext and appointed a Dragon Knight to take his place as the academy’s guardian.
When ferocious dragons attacked, the highly‑regarded Dragon Knight could not endure even a casual strike from the Dragon Lord. He had no option but to forcibly activate the rune arrays left by Castalian to repel the foe. Even so, the new headmistress failed to recognize the academy’s true protector. On the contrary, she placed greater trust in the overrated Dragon Knight, who had nothing but an empty reputation.
The Dragon Lord detected that the rune arrays had weakened and led hordes of dragons to invade. Meanwhile, the underground Abyss Lord shattered his seal and corrupted all teachers and students of the academy. Only when catastrophe unfolded did everyone come to a bitter realization: the one who had kept Saint Peter’s Grand Academy safe for a thousand years was none other than Castalian, the rune‑array caretaker whom everyone had despised.
