Elara Veyne was the most brilliant student at Zhongzhou Magic Academy.
Yet no one knew that this seemingly formidable prodigy had been slowly drained by those around her. She gave her precious magic potions for stabilizing her mana to her boyfriend Evan, stood between him and danger in battles, and surrendered all her resources and love to others. Drained for so long, her mana spiraled into chaos. Her body rebelled, her features warped, and her figure fell out of shape.
The once dazzling genius became the girl everyone called “not pretty enough.”
Her boyfriend Evan recoiled at her scars, yet let Seraphina playfully step on his face. The scheming Seraphina put on an act of fragility while stealing her potions, materials and opportunities. Even the academy headmaster handed over the life-saving ingredients meant for her to Seraphina, who fit the image of the Moonlight Archmage’s disciple better.
Elara finally realized that all her sacrifices were seen by them as nothing more than something they were entitled to take.
On the brink of death, she was saved by Lunara, the Moonlight Archmage. Lunara saw through the truth behind her ruined appearance and told her: if she wanted to heal for good, she had to undergo a transformative rebirth before the graduation ceremony — seek the dark dragon, temper her body in dragonfire, slay the beast, and consume its dragon crystal.
But Seraphina had already set her sights on her.
Desperate to claim the top rank in the academy, seize the spot as Lunara’s disciple and marry into the Blackwood family, Seraphina trapped Elara in the Dragon Gorge and shoved her straight into the searing dragonfire. Everyone believed Elara was dead.
Little did they know, the flames were not her grave, but the crucible of her rebirth.
Breaking free amid the blaze, Elara killed the dark dragon and swallowed its crystal. She slept for four days covered in burns, and on the day of the graduation ceremony, she shed her scars before every watching eye and returned, breathtaking and reborn.
Seraphina knelt on the stage, certain she had stolen Elara’s life away, waiting to be accepted as Lunara’s disciple. That was when Elara slowly opened her eyes and stepped before her.
This time, she would not explain herself, would not yield, and would not sacrifice anything for anyone.
She would make those who stole her potions, her status, and treated her generosity as a given watch her grow more beautiful, more powerful, and utterly untouchable.
At last she understood:
True revenge is not making everyone regret losing you.
It is ensuring you will never lose yourself again.
