Yi Luo'en, a brilliant criminal profiler, entered into a five-year contract marriage with Drew—CEO of the Hamilton Group—to fund her critically ill father's treatment. She put her career on hold to nurse Drew back to health after a near-fatal wingsuit accident and gave birth to their daughter, Freya. However, after Drew’s first love, Sela, returned and began sowing discord, Drew—misled by Sela’s machinations—shoved Yi Luo'en, causing her severe injury. He further believed Sela's lies, forcing the physically frail Yi Luo'en to undergo a forced blood transfusion for Sela and even punishing her by making her kneel in penance all night. When the contract finally expired, Yi Luo'en—burdened by deep emotional wounds—secured evidence of Sela’s wrongdoing, signed the divorce and child-relinquishment agreements, burned the remnants of her past, and resolutely boarded a flight to Los Angeles.
