After being deliberately abandoned by her father and subsequently brought back home, Vera—the family's biological daughter—is framed by her illegitimate half-sister, Emma, for pushing her grandmother; as a result, she is institutionalized for three years, has a kidney stolen on the black market, and is coerced into donating the other. She crosses paths with Theodore, a wealthy heir concealing a leg disability; their families force them into marriage to save a corporate conglomerate. Emma repeatedly disrupts the wedding, but the truth eventually comes to light: Arthur and Emma are father and daughter, and the family's malicious deeds are exposed. A year later, Vera recovers after a kidney transplant and finds happiness with Theodore.
